Board Member Spotlight: Meet Chaplain David Goodyear
All year now, we’ve shared quick highlights of our board members, their backgrounds, contributions, and incredible service to the work of AgGrandize, and this month we’re happy to highlight our Board Chaplain, David Goodyear.
David is near and dear to our team and board alike as he leads Tuesday readings, discussions, and prayers in a meeting mostly dedicated to reflection and just connecting with one another. He tends to speak softly but listens with a rare sharpness, often sharing keen feedback or questions. But instead of talking about him, here’s a bit more from David himself:
“My involvement in AgG came through my long standing friendship with Kevin, our Board Chair. He and I have a shared journey dating back to the early part of this century.
I serve as Board Chaplain, and so I tend to keep my contributions focused on the spiritual side and encourage individuals involved in AgG through prayer and various shared readings.
My confident hope is that as we grow in scale and that God will provide the human and financial resources needed. I see a potential challenge in growing too fast and losing the sense of continuity and unity we currently have.

I also feel privileged to be among so much talent and the spirit of generosity that pervades AgG. Being associated with this group is an upward calling for me.”
David and his wife, Gretchen, have been married 50 years and have 3 kids and 9 grandkids. They are heavily engaged in local community to lift people out of poverty. Given that work, it’s no surprise that David’s favorite author is Brennen Manning, his favorite book Tattoos on the Heart.
