It’s Farmer First! Meet Dennis.

“He was our first broiler farmer in Zambia, and he has been very successful. Farmer Dennis helped show people this is all very possible, and their life can get better.” — Paul, Hamara Heartlands’ field staff

While visiting our partners, Hamara Heartlands, in Zambia, we got to meet farmer Dennis as a crew unloaded his chickens at the slaughterhouse. Dennis’s face was tight with concentration as he counted each chicken, making sure they were weighted and handled carefully.

Hamara Heartlands (HH) gives chicken farmers everything they need to raise birds for meat or for eggs, though most farmers choose the easier broiler route. Farmers like Dennis go through trainings and receive access to everything they need to succeed, but the first expectation is that they also buy in to the process in the form of a chicken barn.

”We can help the farmer make their chicken barn, but they ultimately have to do it and pay for it. It’s important for farmers to show they’re serious and willing to invest their own money,” explained HH’s newest team member, Clint.

Many of you reading this have donated, invested, and generally cheered us on as we’ve scouted and built out partnerships that would offer Kingdom opportunities to farmers like Dennis, and we’re seeing that happen.

Special thanks to our friends at Hamara Heartlands for taking time to show us their incredible facilities and farmers in the region, we are so glad to be partnered!
