Meet Coffee-Farming Sisters Josephine & Frescesma!

These women are Josephine and Frescesme, two remarkable sisters whose love and support for one another inspires us.

In a culture where a woman’s honor and respect is tied to her marital status, you can imagine the challenges these strong, resilient women have faced in a male-dominated world, but they relied on one another to keep going and to grow their coffee farming business.

The sisters inherited coffee farms from their parents, and that was the key to their financial independence.

Their brother helped protect this inheritance of land rather than grabbing more for himself, and the two women live a happy life, cherishing their bond. They emphasized how much they hope to continue to share life together forever, saying the thought of one sister remaining behind after the other has passed fills their hearts with a sad loneliness.

Their story is a reminder of the importance of land, protecting family farms, and the beauty and resilience of female-led farming around the world. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Long Miles Coffee farmers like Josephine and Frescesme as they build their business.

$50 covers the cost of fertilizer, seed, and other inputs to give a coffee farming family a 3-4x larger harvest, a tremendous economic boost!
