Zambia Report: Deeper Investments Into In E Africa

Our team arrived safely home from Zambia, and they're encouraged by what they saw!

The investments many of you make into the C Fund are being well spent in a company we believe will continue to grow in impact on multiple levels. This company is actually two: Hamara and Heartlands. For simplicity, we combine them into Hamara-Heartlands or simply HH.

Some conferences cater more to people coming to get something, but the Forum's network of ministry partners, investors, farmers, and other stakeholders were clearly there to give.

One major takeaway from the gathering: this community understands partnerships.

"We walked into the Up Forum expecting to learn more and go deeper and we weren't disappointed, in fact we were blown away," shared Justin Carney, AgG Executive Director. Throughout the conference, our team engaged in meaningful meetings focused on the food supply chain, working closely with local farmers and pastors to understand their needs and opportunities.

One team member emphasized the importance of our friendships on with the front-line staff: “We got to know the key contributors and operators at HH, our major partner in the region. Their strategy of developing healthy, holistic communities through egg production has had incredible impact, enabling them to provide discipleship to those willing and food security for entire regions of East Africa.” Our team also learned about the critical need for oversight and transparency, which led to HH offering us representation on their Board of Directors to ensure accountability and shared vision.

The conference attendees also visited several key sites, including the slaughterhouse, feed mill, training farms, and a hatchery—gaining firsthand insight into the operations that are fueling regional development. The systems were impressive but lacking the capital to jump start the next growth phase.

As one HH team member put it, “We’ve built out an agricultural system that’s like a Ferrari—high tech, extremely effective, and well-built—but we need your help fueling it.”

Hamara-Heartlands is seeking $500,000 per month over the next 12 months, totaling $6 million for this year to expand the operation.

As we begin a new round of funding requests among our top investors and donors, we are excited about the opportunities ahead to partner with Hamara-Heartlands and continue driving sustainable growth in East Africa.

Thank you for helping fund and fuel this expansion into such a food-critical region of the world!

Warm regards,

The AgG Team
