Presence Over Paperwork: What a Week of Rough Seas Can Teach Us About Partnership

Greetings from rural coastal Panama!

Earlier this month, AgGrandize Senior Advisor and Africa Lead Christian Rath traveled to rural coastal Panama to work directly with our partners at Brontide Corporation.

Brontide’s seaweed farming operation spans four sites: Chiriquí Grande, Miramar, Cayo de Largo Island, and Playa Roja.

It was, by every measure, a tough week to be out on the water.

Heavy rainfall and rough seas hit daily, and operating conditions were demanding across every location. But rather than a setback, the weather became a window — a chance to see exactly how Brontide's local teams operate when things get difficult, offshore and onshore alike.

Grounded in the field, not just the plan.

Christian spent the week living and working side-by-side with the local teams — not observing from a distance, but embedded in the day-to-day work. That meant reviewing existing infrastructure, assessing where growth and expansion make sense, and working hands-on with the team on key elements of the processing facility.

It also meant building out a rigorous testing program and joining conversations on diving safety protocols and operational best practices—the unglamorous but essential work that underpins a resilient operation.

Why this matters for what comes next.

AgGrandize's approach to partnership is built on the idea that strategy is only as good as the operational reality behind it. Spending time in the field — through good conditions and bad — is how we make sure our decisions are grounded in what teams are actually experiencing on the ground.

This visit also set the stage for what's ahead. Conversations throughout the week focused on future development plans, infrastructure improvements, and the resources needed to support Brontide's next phase of growth — work that's building directly toward an investor visit to the Panama operation planned for early December.

A partnership philosophy, in practice.

Christian left Panama encouraged by the progress already made and optimistic about what's ahead — not because the week was easy, but because of what the week revealed: teams showing up, adapting, and executing under real pressure.

That's the kind of partnership AgGrandize is committed to — one built on presence, not just paperwork.
