Anyone else falling hard for Central Asia?

It’s an easily-forgotten part of the world, but wow is it beautiful.

Between the recent Joseph Summit up in the Kyrgyz mountains, the orchards around Almaty, Kazakhstan, or the incredible Silk Road scenes of Uzbekistan, our team continues to be stunned by this beautiful part of the world.

For our aggie-farming friends, Central Asia is extremely new to row crops and a lot of traditional plant-based farming. It’s pretty much been all herds, all the time for thousands of years aground here, which is one reason our crop farmer volunteers are often able to help so much with maize and soy based farming in Central Asia — local farmers are very new to the process.

The mountains, the herds, the simplicity, and yet all of that belies the intense complexity of the region’s religious, social, and cultural mashup that has captivated so many of us.

So for all you who love this underrated part of God’s world, here’s a special look at Kyrgyzstan unlike anything you’ve likely seen: a local American expat filmmaker named Andy was generous enough to share his work with us, and it’s a beautiful picture of this place so many of us have come to love, pray for, and even visit for Joseph Summits and other travel.
