Portfolio Partner: Long Miles Coffee

Founded with the farmer in mind, Long Miles Coffee has kept that focus throughout their 10+ years of work in East Africa.

The European and North American workforce loves coffee, no secret there, but do they love the coffee farmers, too? Historically, the answer to that would be ‘no, not really.’ We want our favorite stimulant to be both high quality and super cheap. So who pays the price for that kind of inequitable demand? The farmer.

Long Miles is dedicated to making sure farmers get their dues while also producing a high quality coffee at an affordable rate. It’s no easy balancing act. The coffee business is cutthroat and competitive, but Ben and Christy founded Long Miles to be that in-between kind of coffee distributor that bridges the gap between the people who farm coffee and the people who drink it.

Long Miles Coffee is our newest C Fund ‘portfolio partner’, one of several strong businesses included in our impact investment portfolio, and we got to visit several of their coffee grower communities in Kenya recently.
