Why We Love Central Asia!
Friends, today we share a slightly different update. Instead of farm focus, we’re simply sharing the beauty and cultural richness of Central Asia, a wildly underrated part of the world and a region we’ve come to love dearly.
When we’re fortunate enough to have a few hours off from meetings or farm visits, it’s a joy to explore the bustling bazaars and stunning landscapes of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and beyond.
From the towering peaks of the Tien Shan mountains to the bustling bazaars with colorful spices and silks, Central Asia is home to ancient civilizations who flourished thanks to Silk Road trade. One of our absolute favorite spots is the serene Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan, where we’ve brought teams to enjoy the mountains looming behind the sparkling cold water as we take tea with Baket and Elmira.
Because it’s not just the scenery that captures our hearts, it’s also the people and their stories. It’s inspiring to see how communities, particularly the churches and believers you support, are working hard amidst challenges. There’s so much potential here, and we believe in the Kingdom’s power of community and support to keep helping these communities flourish.
Each visit brings us new experiences, whether it’s sharing a meal of plov in Uzbekistan or enjoying a traditional musical performance under the stars. The rich history and traditions of Central Asia are woven into the fabric of daily life, and it’s an honor to experience it firsthand.
As you continue making this work possible, we’re excited to cultivate relationships, share our passions, and witness the incredible growth of local communities as they grow in food independence. So, if you’re looking for a travel destination that’s off the beaten path, consider Central Asia.
Stay tuned for more stories and snapshots from our adventures—and thanks to everyone who’s traveled alongside us and experienced it first-hand!
