Happy Farmer First! Meet Damir
We met Damir on a scouting trip to Uzbekistan.
The young farmer was kind enough to host our team for tea in his home (his mother’s baking was delicious), and then he gave us a tour of his ag business outside the ancient city of Samarkand.
While touring Damir’s mill, we met his business partner, Sardor, who had just retired from the military and was learning the basics of agriculture in the region, and we spent time hearing the challenges many farmers in Uzbekistan face as they build out businesses. The food supply chain is strong in some areas, but oh so weak in others!
We ended the time at the ancient Silk Road city of Samarkand and enjoying an amazing lunch with our new local friends.
One quick note from our team members who travel:
This kind of genuine, kind-hearted hospitality from farmers like Damir is a very humbling thing. Being invited into homes and being asked to assess someone’s business can be a personal, even vulnerable thing, and we don’t take that time for granted.
Your giving makes this work.
Whether by your volunteer hours, your investment into the C Fund, or by making a donation, your contributions help farmers like Damir get the startup funding or expert coaching support they need to sustain themselves. Here are three ways your giving continues to have direct impact:
Your giving impacts the lives of farmers and their families. In the past year, we’ve seen your giving provide people with jobs, help parents pay their child’s tuition, or simply put food on the table after a tough season. The work you enable is supporting people out of poverty and into stability.
Your giving supports Kingdom businesses as they work for the good of hard-to-serve parts of the world. You’ve helped pastors stay in their hometown, continue leading their churches, while making their living off well-stocked chicken businesses.
Your giving strengthens supply chains. That means stronger, safer economies producing their own food and at less risk of famine.
Thank you for making all of this possible!
